HDMI mirrors the 1080p HDTV signal to the HDMI TV input, but not vice versa. Not all HDMI connections are created equal. Would you please check for compatibility before connecting any devices with HDMI cables?

The live video stream from the laptop’s screen will come out through its HDMI connection to this external monitor or TV, rather than taking up your computer resources.

How do I change my monitor from HDMI to input?

Your monitor may have a button or some settings for input on the screen. Otherwise, find the instructions in your monitor’s manual and turn on your computer.

If there is still no response after turning on both devices and reconnecting all of the cables, make sure everything is plugged in correctly and that you pressed any appropriate buttons or switches that indicate both screens are live. Try moving the wires around too.

If you do not see anything new on either screen, check to be sure that they were active before turning off your previous session; it’s possible one of them shut down automatically while using another app or during standby mode to preserve power (when monitors enter “low power” standby modes, they save power by shifting from RGB mode to RGBW mode).
